Sales and Marketing
Students conduct research, determine the target market, and develop a marketing strategy for the pricing, promotion, and distribution or “marketing mix” for their specific product. Students further investigate the attractiveness of promotion tactics such as direct mail, public relations, direct response, internet marketing, and others that meet the needs of their specific businesses. Students will understand and apply basic sales skills, effective questioning skills, and basic negotiating skills.
Learn to Use the Power of the Internet
This introductory course acquaints the beginner with the World Wide Web. Learn how to find a particular Web site or search for specific information on the Internet. Students will learn the basics of using the Internet as a sales and communications tool and learn how to apply this knowledge to starting their own business.
Build Your Own Website
Design and create your own simple Web page, with graphics and hypertext links. Learn what elements comprise an effective Web page, and how to upload a page onto the Web. Students will design basic websites and documents for the purpose of sales, marketing, correspondence, and presentations.
Business Communications
Both oral and written communications skills essential in a business environment are covered in this course. Students will learn to write letters and memos covering such topics as product description, sales pitch, good news and bad news, and office discipline. In addition, students will prepare and present several speeches relevant to sales and marketing. Standard grammar and appropriate language usage will be reinforced in this class.
Learn How to Use QuickBooks
Take control and save time with an easy-to use accounting program. Create professional invoices, make deposits, write checks, receive payments, enter and pay bills, issue credit memos, reconcile accounts, generate important financial statements and reports. No prior knowledge of accounting is required. Also learn how to set up your inventory, track and pay sales tax, do payroll, track time and mileage, prepare estimates and progress invoicing, and customize forms, letters and templates.
Business Law
This workshop will give you basic knowledge of the laws affecting business. Business owners will learn how to choose the appropriate business structure, assess business risks, provide adequate protection and establish proper record keeping and controls.
Lean How to Write a Business Plan
Business plans are a necessary tool for every phase of business operations, from start-up to expansion. Using a business plan to chart your course will improve your chances for success. This workshop will give you the basis for a sound business plan.
Understanding Financial Statements
Learn to enhance and clarify your bottom line. Topics include: spreadsheets, understanding revenue and expense, meaningful forecasts and projections, balance sheets, and more.
Learn How to Finance Your Business
Are you seeking to secure financing for a start-up or an expansion? Learn how to secure business loans, identify the appropriate type of loan, construction of credit, present a convincing business plan, bootstrapping or non-traditional financing.
